Opposite of nightmare

This short story is based on the following prompt,

Dear diary,

Like every year on my birthday, my grandparents give me some money to store in my ‘bulb bank’. I don’t particularly appreciate spending the Tulip bulbs I have got.

Why did these beautiful flowers have to be the currency of modern times! These flowers are so beautiful, and in my opinion, their only place is in my mom’s garden.

Still, I can’t go back in time and undo the ‘Tulip Mania of the 1990’s’… I just hope that I collect enough to start my own business one day.

Anyways, today, the most amazing thing happened! When I opened my ‘bulb bank’ today, all my other tulip bulbs had broken, in the sense that the tulip breaking virus infected them. This meant that the tulip fower would have a flared look and beautiful streaks of colour.

Broken tulips have a higher currency value. This means that I can start with my business sooner than expected!
